Regina Foster
“Come rain or shine I would take the bus every week to Karin Jaroszynska’s studio in Parktown North for my art lessons. The sculpture that I was working on, always patiently waiting for me at my station. I remember the first one so vividly, wire, bandages and glass-stone all ready for my creation of Atlas holding up the world.
Karin helped me believe that anything is possible and that I too had strong shoulders just like Atlas. Karin was my art teacher, a mentor to a troubled teenager. I looked so forward to her classes because I was doing what I loved. At the time I had no idea that her tutoring, inspiration and motivation would open the doors to my life path. I am so grateful and deeply honored to be exhibiting my work at the Jaroszynski Art Museum along with her other students; my friends, a camaraderie that we have shared for nearly fifty years.”

ARTIST’S STATEMENT:
Happiness. How do we define it? Where can we find it? I’ve spent many a day considering the nature of happiness- or should I say the happiness of nature in a material and spiritual world. For me it’s the reflection of that wonder on canvas. They are the supreme teachers, if only we are wise enough to see. They take care of their own. They play. They live fully in the moment. Birds in particular can be quirky and even humorous, they give us master classes in life. I see them and listen. Sometimes I feel they are speaking just to me. That is what I try and put on canvas. Happiness.
